10 Facts About Me

Well hello there everyone! Getting good at this blogging thing aren’t I?

Today I thought I would keep it simple with 10 facts about me, cos you’re desperate to get to know me more right?! (Obvs joking, you can leave now if you wish).

1. I am a Leo and I carry the traits of this star sign to a tee- I am extremely stubborn and independent but on the flip side I am very loving and creative.

2. I am OBSESSED with dogs. I have a family dog called Sid who I love dearly.
Every time I see a dog I want to stroke it or talk to it, even when driving, which my instructor tells me off for in my lessons! I can’t help it okay?! They’re just so bloody cute!

3. I have such a bad sweet tooth. I always want chocolate, especially when I’ve eaten my tea, I want something sweet straight away. There is always room for pudding!

4. I have 3 freckles on my cheek that makes a perfect triangle, people at school used to think I drew it on!

5. My family means everything to me. My Mum and Sister are my best friends. Whenever I have a problem I always go to them for advice first, they’re the best!

6. I studied Textiles Design specializing in Knitwear at Huddersfield University and graduated in 2014 with a 2:1. Where have the last 4 years gone?!

7. I am currently working as a Trainee Designer at a caravan company in Hull.
I have previously been a Sock Designer and Garment Technologist.

8. I literally have no common sense whatsoever! Two years ago I woke myself up in the middle of the night when I realized half an hour was half of an hour……..yeah really! I’m naturally Brunette….

9. I am a big believer in fate and that everything happens for a reason. In the worst times in my life things have always worked out, or made sense in the end why they happened. I think the troubles we face in life are to teach us lessons and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the bad times.

10. My boyfriend Adam and I have just bought our first house together, and I’m so excited to start decorating and making our house a Home.

So there we have it, short but sweet, 10 facts about me. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit more!

Body Confidence.

I have struggled with my body confidence for as long as I can remember. Even at my lowest weight I couldn’t see how I truly looked in the mirror.

As a teenager I was never ‘fat’, I’ve always had big hips and a big bum. My stomach was flat and I had decent size boobs, so I should have been happy right? Wrong.
I always compared myself to others, wanting what I didn’t have. Throughout School, College and University I did the same.

I have been a size 8 to a size 12 and throughout all stages of my weight I haven’t liked what I saw in the mirror, I was constantly on a diet, weighing myself, punishing myself for enjoying a chocolate bar, and what for? I was miserable and unhappy.

It’s sad that the world of social media has taken over to knock people’s body confidence. Just click on Instagram and you can find millions of girls with the ‘perfect’ body.
What the photos fail to tell us is that the majority of these will have used several different filters, face tune apps, corrections and a whole host of other things for what you see in the image.

Why can’t we just love ourselves as we are? In my eyes there is only one of you, everyone is beautiful in their own special way.

Today, as a 26 year old woman, I have accepted yes, I do have hips and a big bum with a bit of a belly, but who cares? It doesn’t make me a bad person does it? I have great Friends, an amazing Boyfriend and loving Family, so what does being thin gain me? I’ll tell you what- nothing.

I have learnt how to dress for my figure. I know what works for my body and what I feel good in, so I focus on this when shopping and styling myself.
When I’m wearing something I feel good in, I feel on top of the world and the best version of myself.

That’s not saying I don’t have days where I look in the mirror and don’t like what I see. Yes I have down days, but I have learnt to control my demons and embrace my body.

One of my favourite things is going out for a meal and socializing, so why should I deprive myself this happiness? So what if my jeans feel a little tight, I’ll just be good for a few days to balance it out!

I guess what this word vomit blog post is trying to say is, it’s silly really isn’t it? We constantly diet, punish and starve ourselves for what? Just a number.

Don’t let just a number get you down, you have one life so live it! Eat that chocolate bar or bag of crisps you want and don’t punish yourself!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post, I feel it’s so important we speak up about taboo subjects.

First blog post……….eeeeek!

Well hello there!

I can’t believe I am finally writing my first blog post.

I have wanted to start this for a good year or so, but a) never had the balls and b) I am v lazy. But with the new year and making resolutions, I thought it was about time I stuck to them and created this little space of mine on the internet!
I’m going to share my unhealthy shopping obsession, outfit posts along with some travel, lifestyle and food.

I thought I would start my first blogpost with some of my favourite outfits from 2017 as I really felt like I became more confident in my style last year. Even if people wouldn’t like what I was wearing, or would look twice at me, I felt good enough and confident to rock it!

I wore this outfit when me and my boyfriend Adam were going into town to run a few errands and having lunch. This is a typical casual weekend outfit for me, I like to wear jeans at the weekend as I don’t wear them at work. I’m really into baker boy hats at the minute (mainly because they’re good for hiding greasy hair!) throw in this bargain Primark coat I got in the sale and I think this is a pretty cool outfit (even if I do say so myself).

This outfit has everything I love: pink, ruffles, high waisted denim and a baker boy hat.

I’ll be honest, I was rushing to get ready and threw this outfit together! I got these trousers from H&M sale and knew I wanted to wear them straight away, I tried various blouses and jumpers on but nothing was working, then I spied this NYC Top in the back of my wardrobe, and thought this styled the trousers more casual! I’ve had this fur jacket for years from when I worked at H&M and it just works with everything!

This outfit is what I wore on New Year’s Eve 2016, so my first outfit of 2017! I was in Edinburgh celebrating the new year and it was FREEZING!!! I wanted to be warm but still feel dressy enough as we were having a meal before getting drunk! This post has reminded me to dig it out of my wardrobe again!

I wore this dress when me and my boyfriend Adam went to Chicago for our friends wedding last summer, this was the night of the rehearsal dinner and I can’t honestly tell you how good I felt in this dress. You know when you put something on and feel 100% yourself and confident? This is that dress for me and every girl needs a LBD in her life!

Okay so does this dress remind anyone else of the sassy Spanish lady emoji?! This is what I wore to the wedding in Chicago. My mum actually found me this dress in the Next sale, as soon as I saw it I knew I would love it: red, ruffles and sass, what more could you want?

So this outfit may be a bit quirky and loud for some people (much like me!) but I love it. I wore this for one of my besties wedding do’s and I felt so sassy! I love the clash of the bright pink trousers with the tropical print on the top, throw in some sassy shades and you’re onto a winner.

Last but no least we have this outfit I wore for going out for some food (loose dress = more food right?!) I got this fake leather pinafore from Zara sale for a fiver (did I mention I love a bargain?) I love the bottle green shade of it, as usually these types of dresses are black. I got this blouse from Primark and I love the clash of the yellow with the outfit, I decided to keep my boots and tights simple!

So there we have a round up of some of my fave outfits from 2017, I hope you have enjoyed looking back with me.

Also, thank you if you’ve read this far, I really hope this will be a project that grows and people love it as much as I love creating it!

Speak soon babes with a second post, and in the meantime check out my instagram Here.
